Rebecca Conway-Langguth Artistic Director
Rebecca Conway - Langguth is the owner and
artistic director of the Blair Dance Academy. She holds a Bachelor of Arts
Degree in dance with an emphasis in teaching from the nationally accredited
dance department of Slippery Rock University. Mrs. Becky is a member of
Dance Educator’s of America, where she has earned a high honor
classification. She is also a member of the Professional Dance Teacher's
Association, Americans for the Arts, National Dance Association, and the
American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance. She
has served as the president of the National Dance Honor Fraternity, Sigma
Rho Delta and is a lifetime member. Mrs. Becky has her PA Criminal
Clearance as well as her PA Child Abuse Clearance. She has also served as
the local director for National Dance Week and was a former Mrs. Altoona
International. Mrs. Becky serves as a judge for the Nexstar
National Talent Organization and adjudicates dance competitions all over the
country.
Mrs. Becky
has studied dance for over 25 years from teachers all over the world. Some
of her instructors include, Nola Nolen, Ballet/Pointe; Ursula Payne,
Modern/Jazz; Jennifer Keller Modern/Ballet; Thom Cobb, Jazz/Social Dance;
Frank Hatchet, VOP Jazz; Jaya Mani, Bharata Natyam; Wayne Smith, Modern;
Mark Taylor, Modern; Doug Elkins, Modern; Jump Rhythm Jazz; Mary Williford-Shade,
Modern; Charles Kelley, Acrobatics; Michael Pang, Classical Hula; and Fred
Darsow, Flamenco. She has also completed programs with the Pittsburgh
Ballet Theatre and Point Park College, Pittsburgh.
Mrs. Becky
has performed alongside the nationally recognized Dance Alloy of Pittsburgh
under the direction of Mark Taylor. She was one of eight dancers selected
from over one hundred to be in the dance commissioned exclusively for the
dancers. She has performed on the historic Byham Theatre stage in
Pittsburgh in front of a sold out crowd. She has also received numerous
awards for her solo and group dancing earning her 26 Gold Medals and
numerous special awards.
Mrs.
Becky's choreography has been honored with several awards including three 1st
place challenge champion awards for a modern production piece entitled “Krwlng”.
She was also honored with a National Choreography Achievement Award from
Starpower National Talent Competition in the summer of 2004. Her
choreography has also received numerous special awards. She has also
choreographed several dances for community organizations and local high
school musicals. Mrs. Becky also teaches introduction to ballet and
introductory summer jazz classes at Begin With Us Preschool and is the dance
coach for LTD Academy's Competitive Gymnastics Teams. |
