BDA Community Initiatives
Blair County Chamber - Baskets of Hope campaign
In 2015, BDA began offering free registrations during our open house events to support the Blair County Chamber of Commerce "Baskets of Hope" campaign. This initiative gathers donations of common household items to be given to women and families through Family Services Family Shelter and the Domestic Abuse Project. Families registering for classes during our open houses can bring a donation of items to have their registration fee waived. We look foward to continuing our participation for this worthwhile cause in the years to come.
In 2013, we started a green initiative within our school to drastically reduce our use of paper. Simple in its scope, we realized that much of the paper we utilize was for monthly newsletters and other information that is regularly mailed to our customers. With a school of our size, this was quite a bit of paper! We are proud to have taken steps to reduce our paper use and continue to think of ways to be green.
BDA now relies heavily on e-mail and our website for communication of important news and events. It's important for our customers to provide a regularly checked e-mail address upon registering for classes. No e-mail? No problem! Just let us know.
Buy Here Live Here
We are also proud to support The Blair County Chamber of Commerce "Buy Here, Live Here" campaign. This initiative was created to show Blair County businesses and consumers that "buying here" has a tremendous impact on our local economy. Rather than spending money outside of Blair County, we have taken great strides in sourcing our spending to other local businesses.
